How did you first get into music, and which band became your first real obsession? My dad played in bands growing up. I used to listen to his CD collection on some big ol’ headphones where you had to stand next to the system cause you were plugged in. I remember being obsessed with “whats the story” when it came out. I asked him to teach me to play the guitar when I was 11 or 12 probably because my brother asked to learn only difference was I never stopped.

How did you discover HC, what pulled you in, and which band served as your gateway? tough question mostly cause i have the memory of a goldfish but also this was a long time ago. hc and punk were very much interwoven for me growing up. My first real intro was probably Refused “songs to fan the flames of discontent” that my camp counselor had on his walkman. I would beg him to listen to it everyday. I would also say at the time Pennywise “live at the key club” was a big push into that world for me. Eventually I had a friend in hs give me a stack of CDs. floorpunch, have heart, guns up, SOD, death threat, mental, YOT, silent majority. I used to go to his house after school to play cards and watch the leeway dvd. He brought me to some of my first shows. He went on to sing in an influential LIHC band.
